Verilux HappyLight Deluxe Sunshine Simulator

Rating: (4 / 5)

If it weren’t for the price I would say that the Verilux HappyLight takes the cake, but I know that most people aren’t going to want to spend close to $200 for a light therapy box. Still, it is excellent with only a few flaws.

Pros:
Very attractive looking, puts out a powerful source of light without glare, different intensity settings, easy to use and easy to mount on a wall or on a desk. The rounded shape of the surface cover also makes sure that light is released around rather than just in a forward direction.

Cons:
It does not have any additional features such as an ionizer, but if all you need is a SAD light then this is a pretty good choice. It’s heavier than other models at 9.6 lbs. A little expensive.

Details:
The Verilux HappyLight Deluxe Sunshine Simulator is an attractive and powerful SAD lamp that puts out full spectrum 10,000 LUX light. It’s very simple. Just push the on/off switch on the top and you’re good to go. Consumers will also appreciate the flicker free technology that it incorporates and the electronic ballast that aids in no buzzing.

It’s very accommodating in your home environment for the simple reason that it also comes with a wall mount. This is a very nice option that the manufacturer included and I haven’t seen this available with the other light therapy boxes that I looked at.

The surface cover where the light is emitted from is intelligently designed. Instead of being just flat, it’s slightly rounded so that you can literally walk just to the left or right of the Verilux HappyLight and still get the light exposure.
It’s also a nice size. It’s just shy of 2 feet tall and a little over a foot wide.

The one drawback is that it weighs more than a lot of other therapy light boxes, but 9.6 lbs isn’t awful either.

Conclusion:
It’s a very nice therapy light and a lot of people are very happy with it. The only issue that you may find is that it’s just shy of $200. If you can afford it and don’t mind spending the money, then it’s a good choice. It’s simple, easy to use, not ugly and can be conveniently placed just about anywhere.
